Spamihlator is useing too mutch memory, I had problems with virtual machines not running and after a long search found in msinfo32 that the program has the bigest workspace in the list, so I close it and the VM's run with no issues, restart it and the memory problems show up again , I try reinstalling with no success, what can I do?

Hello Jorge Diaz!

I haven't heard of this problem yet.

32-Bit / 64-Bit Host :?:
32-Bit / 64-Bit Guest :?:
32-Bit / 64-Bit Spami Version :?:

I doubt it matters but what's the OS on the Host :?:
And what Spami Version are you trying to run :?: (e.g. 0.9.9.53)

As an example:

I've running Spami on a virtual machine here with no problems.

Host: 32-Bit Win XP-Pro
VM Software: xVM Virtual Box
Guest: 32-Bit Win XP Pro
Spami: 32-Bit Version >=0.9.9.53

Hello Quellcore!

Host system is Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 (all updates till today)
Virtual system, doesn’t matter XP, W7 all of them.

When you have the issue it happens on all the VM's
I also note that if the VM has a small amount of assigned memory (<512) it starts with no error

The problem with Spamihlator (version 0.9.9.53 x64) is on the host.

With Spamihlator running Win 7 virtual PC give me this error message:

h**p://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l432/Alfa-Max/Spam2.jpg

And if you check in "msinfo32" the difference in memory space is notorious compared with dwm.exe (desktop windows manager):

h**p://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l432/Alfa-Max/Spam1.jpg

I'm not using Spamihlator on the VM

I hope this info can give you an idea of the problem.

Regards, Jorge Diaz

PS: System told me that is not possible to link images so I place the direct link.

Hello Jorge Diaz!

Alright, got it now.
You are running Spami 64-Bit on W7 64-Bit, and all your VM's have problems until you stop Spami on the Host.

As i said before, i haven't heard of this problem yet, but here is a list of things you can try:

  • Disable all additional Plugins
There are many reports where older plugins seem to be troublesome with the newer Spami versions. Although i doubt this will work in your case it's so easy to do this, so i would try it.
  • Uninstall Spami and remove all configuration files and Reinstall
Removing old settings is the crucial part and did help in other cases where Spami was showing abnormal behavior.
Locate the Spami Folder within the USER Folder: <click>
Be advised that removing this folder will also remove old mails in Spami's Recycle Bin and Training Folder.
  • Try the 32-Bit Version of Spami
The 64-Bit Version is still quite young, while the 32-Bit Version is quite mature and stable as a rock. So far downgrading to the 32-Bit Spami version on a 64-Bit Windows helped in most cases.
  • Try 0.9.9.58 Beta
This one has not been officially released.
A quick look through the ChangeLog didn't reveal changes that could help you.
Furthermore there is a nasty bug regarding the settings "Keep Spam Mails on the server until I delete them from the Recycle Bin".
As a last resort you could probably try it, but don't get your hopes up.
