Rule Filter

Beitragvon Rein » 19. Feb 2010, 17:32

I didn't find an entry for Rule Filter, so I made it myself.

I'm very curious about the Rule Filter, because it seems to be a great filter: no mistakes so far at all!!!

Therefore it would be great to learn how it functions.
In this way users can suggest other rules for it.
And maybe even learn how to make your own?

I've got two suggestions at this moment.

For me all email from China is spam.

But I can't find a way to block all .cn mail.
Not in the foo's filter (opposite of friends....) or the link filter.

Then email that is send in your name.

If I look deep in such an email I see things that make it clearly not send by myself.
From: <jantje@myself.nl> if jantje@myself.nl is my adress
Followed with:
Received: from ppp85-140-147-160.pppoe.mtu-net.ru ([85.140.147.160])
That's the real sender I think.
Both should more or less be the same, I think

And:
To: Rachael Tidwell <jantje@myself.nl> if jantje@myself.nl is my adress
That's not jantje but someone called Tidwell
Jantje would not cal himself, but something like Jantje Myself, or Jantje Likeme
Anyway, jantje would know how he should be called. And if that is not the case: it's spam

My Misnamed Filter does the job you describe in your second suggestion.

For your first suggestion, I believe the Strange Country Filter is designed to do that, but I don't use it myself

misnamed filter

Beitragvon Rein » 6. Mär 2010, 15:41

Tried the misnamed filter, but it does not install correctly.
The dll file seems to be corrupt.
Tried to install several times, with spamihilator deactivated, a new download, and manually removing all, but with no success

rule with link check

Beitragvon Rein » 6. Mär 2010, 15:46

I noticed that a lot of spam has url's to strange countries.
Like China and Russia.
The link filter only accept complete url's.
Can a rule or filter be mad which declares links like:
http://*.cn
or http://www.*.cn

And was my original question too strange or complicated
(how does the rule filter work / instruction to make your own rule)?

Could you be more specific? Does it give any error message? What version of Windows are you using?

Hallo Rein!

If i remeber correctly the Misnamed Filter requires the Microsoft .NET Framework, could that be your problem :?:

Hallo Rein!

AlexV is the author of the Misnamed Filter, maybe he has another idea how to solve this one.
We should wait and see if he peaks in here again (i'm sure he will ;-) )

I'm still around, but I haven't got any good ideas right now. I'm not sure what error 104 means, and "unknown error" isn't much help either!

You could try installing the older version, in case perhaps the 64bit/32bit detection thing hasn't worked:
MisnamedFilter-0.4.exe
