Re: update complaint

Beitragvon Chactory » 16. Feb 2010, 15:44

Hallo Michel and Rein!

Rein has found a real false-positive filtering of my regular expression for "via..." in the spam-word list. I'm very interested in getting feedback, and this is the second false-positive notification at all, and the first for "via...". The nederlandse language has cracked my spam-word list ... Thanks for your good work, Rein! :)

I'm able to control the list when I get the mail text concerned, and the spam-word concerned, too. In the second mail, Rein has submitted a screen shot containing that information. Of course, I'm going to revise my regular expression.

Regards, Chactory

new spamfilter unrealyable

Beitragvon Rein » 26. Feb 2010, 13:53

Sorry to inform you that I had to stop working with the spam filter.
After the last mail + screenshot I send you, 'he' did it again.
This time even more crazy than before. I had send a plain text mail to a client with only some plain text-urls, and he answered only with two plain text lines.
When plain text causes such queer things the risk is too much.

You don't expect such things, therefore I discovered it only after a day that he replied. You don't check the learning filter every hour, don't you..... Nearly lost a customer...

back to the original filter
Problem is that I can't go back to the spamfilter I used to have:
I don't know how to get the old version,
and worse: I adapted the old version myself (it had bad effects as well in the predefined words, like:
you have received, spam, receive, receiving, service, unsubscribe
Even with my dutch emails it gave bad results

And deleting all the {}[] words is a tough job to do!

Hi Rein,

thank you again for responding.

Rein hat geschrieben:I had send a plain text mail to a client with only some plain text-urls, and he answered only with two plain text lines.
I'm not quite sure, if I understand it right, but this phenomenon seems to me to have not any relation to Spamihilator at all ...

This should be a job for me! To check the false-positive notifications and – where possible – clean the spam-word filter. But for that job I need to get very clear informations about false-positive recognitions from you.

Kind regards, Chactory

Re: update complaint

I will send you the email I send and mentioned in the former message.
Sorry that my text was a bit confusing to you.
What I said was that this email was absolutely not spam and with no strange signs at all.
Just because I send it myself at the first place and was returned (and had a false negative notion from the spamword filter at that moment) with hardly any extra text.

The other thing is simply that I modified the OLD spamwordfilter, and that it took a long time to do that. I'm not sure if all the words I think are bad words for the filter (I don't know any more what words really caused it) but I took the safe side. And actually I really think that quite some words should not be in the filter (as a sample I mentioned those in my former message).

changing spamword filter

Beitragvon Rein » 8. Mär 2010, 12:53

Thank you for your warm greetings

I tried to find a more easy way to change the predifened words of the spamwordfilter.
Found spampoints_user.xml.
But changing anything in that file doesn't seem to effect the list at all.
Not deleting an item, not changing the percentage. A pity, because it was really easy to do.

Is there another file there an other file that does the trick a similar way, or a way to make changes possible in the spampoints_user.xml file?

I'm really dependent on a good spamwordfilter. It works fine, much more reliable than the learning filter - for me as a Dutch anyway.

Re: changing spamword filter

Hallo Rein!

Thank you for your friendly answer. Please try the following:

To inactivate a spam-word, open the Spamihilator settings, click on the item "Spam-Wörter" (spam-words), and look up the concerned spam-word by expression or by description. You can set the probability to 0 (zero).

Another possibility is to use Alex's SpamwordsEditor to edit the whole xml-file.

spamword filter

Beitragvon Rein » 8. Mär 2010, 15:18

Okay: it is the file I thought it would be!

The conventional way I already know of course: but that's a lot of (frustrating) work.
Does the program of Alex do something an ordinary HTML program (plain HTML) can't?
Because I changed the HTML, but that had no influence at all.
And if Alex program is better, where can I find it? It's not an ad-on....

Hello Rein!

In the course of this very brief discussion, the programmer Alex has provided us a very intelligent tool for editing the file "spampoints.xml" very easily! Just try it out, it works very good with me!

easy change spamwordfilter

Beitragvon Rein » 9. Mär 2010, 12:18

Thank you!
this very brief discussion worked fine look above ( no copying of a link here) works great.
Why not make it a ad-on, or something like that because it should be interesting for more users!

This was what I was looking for when I mentioned:
And deleting all the {}[] words -in spamwordfilter- is a tough job to do!

and later.

And for other readers:
I mentioned
spampoints_user.xml
wrongly as the file to be changed.
It has to be:
spampoints.xml
which is found in the programfiles of Spamihilator.
